Essence Life is a personal practice companion app created for all who want to explore surrender and forgiveness as a personal practice of transcending life's unfolding stories. The app provides guided forgiveness practices, transcendence card draws, a personal journal, podcast teachings, and a conversational companion called Ocean. The app is accessible at essencelife.app.
When you create an account, we store the email address and password you provide. Your password is encrypted and never visible to anyone, including us.
When you use the app, we store the following data tied to your account so it can sync across your devices:
With your consent, we also collect anonymous usage events (such as which features are used and how often) to understand how the app is being used and improve the experience. When opted in, your Ocean conversation logs are also synced to our servers for continuity across devices.
You can opt in at sign-up and opt out at any time from the "Help Improve the App" toggle in Settings inside the app. When opted out, your usage events are not sent to the server, and your Ocean conversations are stored only on your device.
Your data is used solely to provide and improve the Essence Life app experience. We use it to sync your practice across devices, remember your preferences, and understand which features are most valuable to our community.
We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We do not display ads of any kind.
Your data is stored securely on encrypted cloud servers with encryption at rest and in transit. Your data also exists in your browser's local storage for offline access.
When you speak with Ocean, your messages are sent to Anthropic's API (the AI provider) to generate responses. Anthropic does not use your conversations to train their models. Your conversation context (last 10 messages) is sent per request and is not stored by Anthropic beyond the time needed to generate a response.
You can delete all your history and journal entries from the Settings screen inside the app at any time. You can also delete your entire profile and account using the "Delete My Profile" option in Settings. This action permanently removes all your data from our servers and cannot be undone.
Essence Life uses browser local storage to keep you signed in and store your practice data locally for fast access. We do not use third-party cookies or tracking pixels.
Essence Life is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16 years of age.
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

Your use of Essence Life and its practices is entirely voluntary and at your own discretion. You are solely responsible for how you apply the teachings and practices in your daily life.
